No they wouldn’t. The lack of an algo is a bug for them, not a feature.

If "influencers" routinely made 10,000,000 sats/month on Nostr maybe they would flock over.

According to zaplife.lol somewhere around 3,150,000 sats were zapped in the last week so if all zaps for a month went to this one woman we could just barely cover the monthly bills of one influencer.

Maybe we need some nostr devs to focus on bolstering the simp economy to bootstrap

🤣

Nostr is in its early days!

I see a future where people opt-in to get paid to watch ads and earn Bitcoin they can zap to content creators they like.

I see a future where we establish a decentralized attention marketplace that puts Bitcoin into the pockets of the masses who get to decide for themselves what they see and how much content is worth.

There will be no cap on how much someone will be able to earn posting content on nostr. 🤗

There's a lot of algos used in the Nostr

It's a bug for me, too. Dumb clients over dumb relays has a very limited appeal.

We're going to try it without an algorithm, and instead design options for traveling around different groups of content on Nostr. The idea is that you have control over everything you see, or you temporarily give someone else control.

That's also an algo, tho. Just a different kind. Even "from follows" is an algo. 🤷🏻‍♀️

It's just a chronological list of notes. You're building the list by adding people to your neighborhood and block. And you can visit other people's neighborhoods.

An algorithm is just a logical procedure or a set of rules. So, that already qualifies as an algo.

I'll take your word for it but that is how we're communicating the features. Just better to ditch these terms and make it very easy for anyone to understand why they're seeing the content that they're seeing when scrolling on social media.

Yeah, I just find it weird when software engineers attempt to demonize software engineering, as if it were a dark art.

People hear "algo" and freak out, but it's the basic building block of software programs. An application is literally only data and algos. 🤷🏻‍♀️ That's what software _is_ and removing too much algo leaves the user staring at an endless feed of Odell saying GM.

😅 I hear exactly what you're saying.

The problem with big tech platforms is not that they have too many algos, but too few.

Yeah, there's one big one and nobody knows how it works and you can't opt out.

its casino tech. insert more videos of yourself to play again. 4-5% chance you win the viral lottery, just enough to keep you there, but never enough to quit before youve lost everything.

I took a very basic CS class once upon a time, which of course had nothing to do with social media or anything, and the prof always said above all he was hoping we’d learn “algorithmic thinking”

As in like purely logical, possibly mathematical, loopish, if-then sort of stuff

IDK, give me a (powerful) filtering and i'll be fine. client or relay side. but my rules.

make it a lists, allow me to switch between them (like a db view).

give me my own (clieny side) DVMs.
