As a child, I was already fascinated by outer space and even more by ideas to explore it. I spent a lot of time under my blanket with a flashlight, absorbed in my favorite book with drawings of space stations, rockets, and life in the future. Everything seemed peaceful and quite social; I loved the idea that space travel would become second nature to everyone. "..I think if you paint a beautiful future over and over again, you're helping to make that future come true." said the set designer and neo-futurist concept artist Sid Mead.

He designed the futuristic worlds of movies like "Star Trek", "Mission to Mars" and of also "Blade Runner", in the original versionone of my favorite movies. Happy Friday. #nostrart

Sid Mead was beast.

💯. It's interesting how his ideas and visualizations of the future still inspire designers and architects. Apart from that, the Bladerunner set and the many details were mostly still built by hand and mixed with strong background light, smoke and rain. For me still the strongest futuristic film noir.

Bladerunner is a masterpiece. Möbius and Sid Mead and Riddley Scott together! And yes, the practical Fx and fogged sets still hold up.

Absolutely. I am German, thanks for letting me learn a new term- Practical FX, sums it up.

Germany is wunderbar! Ich liebe Deutschland.

:) Ich lebe in Berlin..
