Awareness is key, I am not discarding the other emotions, I just chose to concentrate on JOY on that note. (as well as suggesting how trauma bonding is often used by abusers to get closer to their preys)

JOY and SADNESS tell you what matters.

TRUST and DISGUST tell you what to include and exclude from your life.

ANGER and FEAR tell you about your obstacles.

ANTICIPATION and SURPRISE are modifiers linked to your awareness/knowledge.

All pure, all useful, all messengers. The note I wrote is a reminder to myself, as I attempt to reconnect with the world.
