how much spam does it take before we prioritize dealing with it on the relays? should I fuck around and find out? 👨💻😈

How much of this do you get? I get one or two a week and just mute, which is way more manageable than the spam on twitter.

I have the same question - they are new users? Meaning you mute them and they still get through that often?
yes. I was vigilant about muting spam and it worked for a while. then it seemed to increase, so I assume they’re spinning up new keys all the time now.
got tired of the constant multiple clicks to mute on every post so largely gave up on mute. too lazy to do much about it besides offer ideas from time to time.
Haha yeah, well if we moved to paid relays (something i’ve also not done) I’m sure it would improve. There was a period where someone was running a bot that would create a new username for every post to show that muting wouldn’t actually work against a determined attacker… but they’ve stopped and nobody has seemed like a determined attacker since lol. Like you, I don’t find it bothersome enough to really do much about it. It’s so easy to notice and skip when they do get create a new user. And definitely far fewer bots here than other platforms for now at least.
