i agree with everything you say, especially when considering adoption. too much harm has been done to the words crypto blockchain and so on. my only concern is how to monetize nostr social network, aka how do you reward client teams maintaining and updating their products, and the content creators who actually rely on zaps today. maybe automation much like youtube and twitter? i’m not even sure that’s doable i’m not tech savy i’m just thinking out loud. my thought is nostr needs to prove everything that’s being done on web2 today, but web3.

The question of how to monetize is difficult. At this point if you rely solely on bitcoin for monetization you could end up in a situation where you onboard a whole bunch of people who are bitcoin-averse and manage to get them to stay. And then you end up using more and more resources with fewer and fewer people who are willing or able to donate money to pay for relay costs. As much as it sucks to say, relay operators need to be able to supplement their bitcoin intake with traditional funding avenues. At least until bitcoin becomes more mainstream and we remedy the poisoned well.
