I must admit that in this respect, I am a normie.
But I genuinely believe that you only hurt yourself by asking people you follow to post in a way that doesn't offend your sensibilities. If the person you're following has no value then don't follow them. If their posts have value to you, you will hurt that value by trying to make them post politely.

It’s ultimately a way to censor. I’d rather people be their authentic selves. That requires letting them, and when we see them be something we don’t like - to take responsibility ourselves for what we want to see instead of putting it on them - without consent. This respects each other’s agency without creating a hierarchical relationship.
