Not my original joke, just read it. I don't see a flaw, if that's what you're suggesting

i understand that the premise is that person #3 established the preferences of #1 and 2 out-of-band (outside the scope of the joke). ie, "lets go get a beer"

but if that premise is false, he doesn't know either.

but if its true, why dont the others know?

It's important they are logicians, so they think very literally.

First guy could answer no if he did not want beer, as that would answer the question correctly. Since he says I don't know, it implies he does but is unsure of other two.
