I don't know why it happens but it did happen to me too, so I now have a daily script run which backs up contacts and tracks changes.

I have also seen a few times that people show as blocked when I haven't blocked them. This usually happens when someone I follow quotes someone else, I like it and go to check out that new account only to find I've apparently blocked it. 🤔
