After trying to journal in StandardNotes, Obsidian, DayOne, and a couple other options I probably am forgetting I think I have accepted that none do what I want and I’m just going to use #nvim and txt files with years being their own folders. So much easier and much less to think about.

How come Obsidian doesn't do what you want? I haven't tried the others but for me, Obsidian is absolutely stellar and helps me keep my thoughts organized as I write.

One of my number one requirements is that I have individual txt or md files on my own file system. I don't like having things locked into a particular system or software.
