I was think about streaming music earlier. Say I own a cafe and play background ambient music. At the moment in the UK at least I have to pay PRS and other fees to play the music and I bet most of it goes to the labels and not the artists.

If there was a way to stream sats or subscribe to music that was outside of the PRS royalty system I bet more money would flow direct.

Not sure how an artist would remove themselves (or even if they would want to) from the scheme but in order for the venue not to be fined the music would need to not be on the Royalty list.
