Math is fundamental. If you have a strong foundation in math, then you can do almost any STEM field. I’m kicking myself relying on cramming during college. Now I have re-learn things like calculus and linear algebra for my field.

Couldn’t agree more! Linear algebra is one of the coolest undergrad classes imo! I found it so fascinating!

Do you have a platonic view on mathematics? That is to say mathematical theories and patterns are discovered? …or invented?

I would say discovered. Mathematical principles exist around us, but it’s up to us to notice and understand them.

However, we can apply those principles to create inventions that fulfill our needs. That’s how I conceptualize things anyways. My view may be simplistic though.
