Hey I'm not saying Michael bay is bad.

If anything Michael bay is one of the best followers of all time*

* This being if you take into consideration he is making films for a certain demographic.** But if he makes films perfect for that small demographic of people.

**That demographic being just hitting puberty young men. But the facts are there. Explosions and Bob's

The man has no fear of blowing a special effects budget. And there is a moral simplicity to his movies that has faded these days. That is for sure.

Faded yes. But not gone. The new season of Jack reacher is the tits. And top gun did megabucks

I like Reacher.

I miss the days when heroes were heroes, bad guys were bad guys. I know life isn’t like that, but the movie was both the escape and something to aspire to.

That doesn't stop you from watching old movies🤷🏽

You kind of in a way perfectly explains the entire life of Western movies.

They started out knowing where everyone stood.

You had white hats and black hats. And smoking was cool.

Then people evolved. Smoking became a villain thing. Good guys wanted to look cool and had black outfits. And often the good guy did bad things. It became harder and harder to tell who the good guys actually were or if there were any at all.

Then people lost interest. They moved on to westerns in space. And westerns moved into the post modern. And into parody.

Now, every now and then there may be a good Western that comes out. But people don't think "I need to see a good Western!" It's not in the general psyche so films are few and far between even getting onto film.

But you can always load up the searches and relive the good ol days

Yep. I grew up watching the Duke. Still love John Wayne.

Newest western I’ve enjoyed was Tombstone. But I haven’t followed the genre super closely as my movie watching has basically fallen off a cliff as they’re mostly unrelatable to me, or don’t provide the desired escape.

Tombstone is fantastic. But there's been some good ones since

Might I recommend

no country for old men

The revenant

Bone tomahawk

Django unchained

Deadwood (TV show)

The Cohen brothers version of true grit

Yellowstone(TV show)

Not exactly a Western. But if you want a surprisingly good movie you should watch Cop Car with Kevin Bacon

Don’t forget Old Man Henry, The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, Godless and 1883

^^^^^^^^^^

“Hostiles” too

The three burials of Melquiades Estrada is a great film. Not sure if this is a classic western though, but it's in the same genre bucket as no country for old men.
