Late night movie watching last night was Barbarian (2022). It identifies as a horror/thriller movie, I think it is a bit confused and is more of a horror/comedy flick. There were a few of jump scares which I hate, the parts that were supposed to be grotesque made me giggle. The plot within the plot was disgusting, but it taught me men are jerks (sarcasm lvl 10 here 🙄). There was some very cool camera work in it, acting was not terrible, not the worst movie I've ever seen. #moviestr #wtfdidiwatch #shejustwantedherbaby #notanodereview

Guess I’m not watching Barbarian. Thanks.

You're welcome 🤝

One of the guys from The Whitest Kids You Know, Zach Cregger, made it and starred in it. He just did the movie Weapons. I think going into watching his movies with this knowledge is probably important.

I LOVE his movies. just watched Companions.

I’ll have to check both of these out. I just watched Weapons and REALLLY enjoyed it.

I've watched worse and horror movies aren't ever my pick but I didn't do the picking lol. We watched it all the way through and I liked the camera work. I'm not going to watch a bunch of movies so I can be prepared to watch another movie... I just want to be entertained this did the trick but it wasn't my jam 🤷‍♀️.

Oh I just mean if I didn’t know that Weapons was done by a comedian I probably wouldn’t have been as receptive to *how* it was done. The whitest kids you know is a sketch comedy show.

Is Weapons a "horror" movie too? The guy we were watching with said that one was good. I'm most definitely an on the surface movie watching gal, I'm easily distracted and my mind wanders when I'm sitting still 😂 I've learned to live with myself and bug the hubs with questions when I tune out...he's not always thrilled with that though.

Yeah it’s horror. But I think like how you’re describing barbarian (I haven’t seen it) but I would describe weapons as being kinda kitschy and like “grade B” of a horror movie. It seems like an intentional stylistic choice to me though rather than some kind of failure of execution.

I get that though. I pause a lot and make excuses to take breaks. Also do a lot of discussion while watching too hahaha.

Okay, if we watch it, I'll be better prepared 😂. I'm still more inclined to watch shitty girl movies that I don't have to actually watch.

Nothing wrong with that! I like my fair share of throwaway/trashy entertainment.

But yeah definitely helps to know what you’re getting into.

Right, there's always an ahhhhhh it's by that guy it makes a bit more sense now. But...not knowing that going in makes for a confusing experience 😂.

that movie was fantastic. I genuinely had no idea what direction it was going until near the end. And it mixed SciFi and realism, using time jumps to tell the story without being jarring. And the comedy is funny without making the horror less scary. those cops are fuckin clueless. 8/10 would recommend.

Same dude who did "Companions" and "Weapons," Zach Craggor, former member of 'The Whitest Kids U Know'

It was definitely all over the place, but I spent the whole movie trying to figure out if it was supposed to be a parody 🤷‍♀️.

the best dishes have a sweet element, a salty element, a fatty element, and an acidic sour element. a good dessert is more than just straight sugar.

And some dessert isn't my favorite 😂

Check out Weapons

I was like "aliens? alternate dimensions? CIA mind control? WTF is this movie even about?!?"

I liked it a lot.

I LOVED it
