The above limit of £1000 per transaction & £5000 per month is “for your protection” because…it’s ok to lose £5k…
This does zero to “protect” anyone. If anyone wants more than £5k sent they will just open multiple accounts elsewhere. This is to stop a ‘crypto bank run’.
