I think it depends on the definition of "involved" given the context.

On- going battles on most continents.
But I'm sure, like most things, the definitions have been changed.
Many countries can nationalize their companies legitimately in case of war... in the case of a world war they can do this without being directly involved, we will see many nationalizations happening and the state will own everything! That’s the real danger!
If it’s one or more other countries it’s a skirmish. If it’s American interests it’s a war.
