Why not the everyday conversations and willingness to listen, engage, and carry us forward?

Many people on Nostr get caught up in online opinions. I’ll admit, I too have felt disappointed by what I’ve read or heard. Have you met these people face-to-face? If you have, what do you remember about them. What about their presence, their kindness, and their humanity? If you haven’t met them, it’s worth it to travel to them.

If you follow me on Facebook, you’ll see a tamed version. On Nostr, I’ve been bold, even obnoxious, and sometimes guilty of drunk posting. Still, when I’ve met some of these same people in real life, their profiles and their humanity don’t always align. That’s a reminder to me that we are more complex, more layered, than our Nostr personas suggest.

I’ve met many people across these spaces, even some who are considered “major influencers.” Yet what has stayed with me most is not their status, but the conversations and exchange of ideas.

That’s what makes this movement feel alive. We have to keep honoring freedom of voice and we need to keep engaging with it. Yes, sometimes words on Nostr can offend us. Instead of rushing to attack or dislike, what if we asked: what is really being said? What is behind those words?

Well-known voices bring visibility. Can we do better?
