it's way better for Cashu wallets to store their ecash offline in a durable database instead of nostr relays. NIP-60 is double trouble: mints can rug you, relays can rug you, and you can fuck up your wallet configuration. avoid if you can.

I see NIP-60 as a sync additional tool, it doesn't prevent a sovereign backup procedure.

Backups in 5 relays are probably safer than on 2 relays and your hard drive. Just make sure it remains 5 over time.

How would relays rug you given nip44_encrypt?

you are trusting the relay to store your ecash events unless you are running the relay that store these.

But nothing is stopping you from storing it in 5 relays and at home. Clearly, any wallet implementation should retain data locally and not throw it all away between runs.
