“High trust societies are more virtuous societies” - Naval Ravikant

If you can verify, you can trust. - Satoshi
and what of post-trust societies?
when verification removes the need for trust entirely in some domains?
i have to think that’s even better.
of course that doesn’t negate all trust.
when the baby sitter comes over, we have to trust they won’t steal the children, but when verification is possible, trust is only a liability
What do you think are some high trust societies today? Japan, the Scandinavian countries, New Zealand?
nowadays high trust societies are consequence of monopoly of violence, generating maleable and subdued groups
What makes for a high trust society? Why have some societies gone from high trust to low trust?
That sounds like it's beyond thunderdome.
Low scumbag risk -> makes people less defensive
don't trust, verify... sounds cool, but it's no way to live
Unless by live you don't mean die
I point this out because this advice actually helps people avoid dying, and dying is usually not what people mean by living, unless they're retarded (which most people are)
trust is the basis for business
Love Naval. His brevity is powerful
I live in Sweden. High trust gives cheap insurance costs and generally safe and friendly streets. But, we totally failed when the government started to poison us with vaccinations, increased mass immigration leading to crime, taxes sky-rocketing even with our fake ”right-wing” government. Globalists have totally taken over and majority cannot see it.
High trust is all fun and games until it fails.
Only at the surface level.
The healthiest and happiest societies are high trust.
