You don’t realize how fucked up mainstream social media is until you have no power in the middle of a emergency and your government and utilities only post updates on Facebook.

Dude I had to get an account just to know what is going on in my town for my kids (schools, sports, etc). Literally don’t post it anywhere but FB.
Honestly think it ought to be a legal requirement for state funded institutions to have it on their website. I don’t mind if they put it on FB for people’s convenience, but it ought to also be on their website.
Should be something else in place for sure. Most of my kids sport clubs only have FB pages. I never know what is going on.
Too much local coms relies on FB. How can we change this?
