I'll write a dedicated article for how to help your loved ones eventually, and another one that can be sent to them...
Discussion
Vielen dank, Max! 🙏 Looking forward to reading and sending that one too. I know that I will encounter a lot of resistance. So, all the help is needed. Besides, I myself learn a lot from your articles.
Candles in the Dark might be useful too
Thank you 🙏 I listened to the video on the webpage you sent me. And I have to admit, it does sound like they are talking to me.
Oh my God… The description of the conversations is spot on. It’s like you have been eavesdropping on my private conversations. Amazing stuff! 🔥 Lots of good tips. 💪
“The difference between "Taxation is theft" and "What makes taxation different from theft?" may seem subtle, but it is the difference between a frontal assault that triggers defensive fortifications and a flanking maneuver that arrives at the same destination without ever engaging the defenses at all.”
“What would it take to change your mind?" reveals whether genuine inquiry is possible or whether you are speaking to someone whose beliefs are held as unfalsifiable axioms. "How confident are you in that belief, and why?" creates space for doubt that arguments never could, because the doubt emerges from the person's own reflection rather than being imposed from outside.”
I have to admit that perhaps my approach has been a bit obnoxious and toxic…
“They are not stupid. They are conditioned. And you cannot uncondition them by lecturing any more than Seligman could cure learned helplessness by explaining escape theory to dogs.”
The truth is that I could have probably said something like this to my loved ones:
“You are not stupid. You are conditioned. I cannot uncondition you by lecturing any more than Seligman could cure learned helplessness by explaining escape theory to dogs.”
So, I can see that I have to improve. Thanks again!
I will read it a couple of times again to make sure that I have a better success rate in the future (or at least that there is a chance of success).
The Questions Worth Asking part is pure gold too
I think we all made those mistakes in the past ... I still do sometimes. The writing is partly a reminder for me too!
