With proper cover cropping it is almost impossible for weeds to invade a garden in winter and early spring.

NOT LONG AGO I WAS DEBATING SOME AI ABOUT WHY IT SAID WEEDS ARE BAD -
IMHO - MANY PLANTS LABELED WEEDS ARE SIMPLY VERY VERY GOOD AT PROLIFERATING AND HAVE EVOLVED METHODS WHICH HELP ENSURE THEIR PROLIFERATION OVER TIME! WE SHOULD BE STUDYING THEM AND LEARNING FROM THEM.
