“I know Damus is releasing note deck which is cool but that is something I don’t ever see myself using.”

That makes 2 of us: nostr:note19u3knfpeskrf2z5cfraycc5yhd87q0l9sa5c2mqdzenzlfkjclkq5uf34y

I bet there’s a lot more Damus users in the same boat; abandoned for a vanity project.

I’ll be changing clients in the new year. nostr:note1aqevfnhue72yqjhnsf549tlz9lm4havrzca869gxg5rylvyg7cjspjl7v3

💯 Sad to see but I wish them well. I use Nostur and Primal now. Trying out Yakihonne with a test nsec and very impressed with the features and UI but I always worry about putting my main nsec into more clients.

That’s 3 at least then, Nostr’s resident memelord no less. Sad indeed but the complete ignorance toward users is simply not viable in the #nostr model.

Have tried both a while ago but will get to explore again on new device next year.

I was a diehard Damus user for about my first year or so on nostr. Used other clients off and on just to see what they were doing but always came back to Damus. Started noticing the other clients pulling ahead in features I wanted, and their devs seemed to be more open to feedback, so I began using those other clients more often. Will is talented but is a total blowhard when you critique anything they’re doing and ask for features. Damus has a couple things I like, such as private zaps, but that’s not enough to keep me there, and there are some important quirks that other clients sorted out long ago. If it changes I’ll look at them again, but they seem focused on Notedeck and I’m not really interested in that type of use case.

Will night be a talented dev, but he’s an ignorant twat.

He thought the early momentum would carry Damus in perpetuity. Literal fiat thinking that doesn’t apply here and he’s gonna find out hard when his Purple subs don’t renew because they’ve moved on to clients who actually take feedback and communicate with their userbase, so he’ll run out of runway for his new thing that no-one wants anyway.

Very little interest in Notedeck from what I’ve seen. No doubt he’d use the Henry Ford quote about faster horses but Will ain’t Henry Ford and we’ve already got better cars and don’t need a 6-wheeler.

if I listened to you we would never have an android client and would forever be under the boot of apple and their restrictions.

the decision for notedeck was to be free and build a client in a more modern way that would better support the outbox model.

it was a team decision, so you calling me ignorant is calling everyone on the damus team ignorant. nice!

good thing I don't listen to random assholes on the internet who don't have any clue.

Yeah “if you listened to me” the result wouldn’t be a new client for a new OS; it would have been a better client on the same OS.

Your existing users weren’t complaining that Damus wasn’t available on Android - they were on iOS already. They wanted a better version of Damus on IOS..

“it was a team decision, so you calling me ignorant is calling everyone on the damus team ignorant. nice!”

Lol. Did they make this call or did you in charge of development for the project make it?

What’s that? It was you who made this decision?..

Well then I stand by you what I said - you are an ignorant twat. And I feel sorry for the Damus team whose leader would try to hide behind them like that.

You can say I have no clue, but here’s a clue - your project is already dead.

You didn’t have your existing users support to build this nonsense. Your existing paying users wanted a better Damus on iOS, YOU decided to build a new client for a new audience whilst neglecting your existing, and you’re going to end up with neither.

Good thing you don’t listen to random arseholes on the internet who have spent 10 years monetising new products for Unicorn startups who knows how to launch new software products to be additive rather than cannabilise the existing!

Otherwise you might have learned before making these mistakes!

Instead now you just get to own the death of your project alone; you absolute wanker.

Yeah the only thing is primal Wallet on iOS is lame. I still like Damus for is NWC connection. Apple rejected this for primal but as soon as I can zap on primal iOS without using their Wallet. I will have a hard time staying with Damus. Besides my love for will and team and the nice connection media with nostr.build nothing is really keeping me here. It feels like I’m not getting the full nostr experience with note discovery and finding what is trending.

Damus users definitely aren’t getting the full Nostr experience.

I joined 24/12/2023 and Damus was the best experience back then 2 years ago.

Now many other clients have exceeded it and there’s nothing keeping Users locked in so might as well try something else where the Devs are at least continuing development and adoption of new stuff.

Yeah I came to that realization after listening to the pod about primal 2.0

Checking out Yakihonne and it has NWC support on iOS. I’m not brave enough yet to put my main nsec into it though 🤣

The biggest problem with Amethyst as a Nostr client for mobile is that you'd have to teamviewer into your phone to login to your account or copy your nsec from a password database.
