Having a music degree myself, I would say I learned a ton and more importantly made connections that served me well professionally.

While I’m sure art education teaches some foundational principles and exposes students to different mediums et cetera, is it needed?
Not really. Like music, find a mentor and begin experimenting (practice your art).
I think one of the biggest differences between a music degree and art degree is the collaborative nature.
True paintings, sculpture, etc can be collaborative…they typically are solo art forms whereas music is typically the opposite.
Anyways…was my degree beneficial? Yes. Do I use it today….not really!
