the biggest problem with israel attacking hezbollah by planting bombs in common domestic telecoms hardware is they have now planted the meme that anything, especially second hand, could be a bomb waiting to go off when 5 messages come at once

when i was a child, all the adults around me were mortally afraid that they would destroy computers if they pressed the wrong button on them, and i was curious so i pressed all the buttons, and very occasionally i broke them, and if i did, often i would then learn how to fix them

normies will not cope with this

everything in the pawn shop now is going to be suspect

the terror effect of this attack is going to be a lot bigger than people expect, and just wait to see the copycat attacks now after this, hooo eee

These bombs were planted, right? They didn't figure out a way to make normal pagers and other devices just explode (via the batteries or something), I hope.

Just like governments want a backdoor to the software on our devices I can see them wanting to have all devices rigged to explode now, just in case they need to take anyone out, for "national security" of course.

yeah but the thing is that there WILL be secondary market items that were switched off... and it was a flood of messages that triggers it

just gonna take a couple of incidents and the unintended effects will take hold

and like you say... it's just like the Harkonnen "heart plugs"... the slaves must slave or die

as always samsung was pioneer in that feature with the note 7, apple will implement it when its really ready for consumer market

I think that's an interesting secondary effect that was certainly considered.

The "cooling effect" is certainly causing communication disruptions.

this isn't really a big deal long term IMO because this trick won't work again. Anyone considerding doing anything is going to source their gear from a trusted source.

those Israelis sure are creative haha

Was no a new idea though? Good ol' Trojan Horse; inverse if something... Old tricks by new tools and circumstances...

no, it's not that original, and i don't think it was any better thought out than the Kursk Offensive or the North Stream bombing

they have just demonstrated they are cheap, and they don't care about collateral damage, that is very counterproductive to "winning hearts and minds" of the enemy nation to be helpful, they are now doubly cautious

israel just proved they don't give a shit whether they kill innocents, and this is not going to be lost on their enemies

Israel proved, impressively and not for the first time, that it is also a terrorist organization.

IMO, governments are all terrorists

the definition of the word terrorism:

the unlawful use of violence or threats to intimidate or coerce a civilian population or government, with the goal of furthering political, social, or ideological objectives.

well, i will argue about the definition of unlawful since according to numerous old laws, monopoly grants are unlawful yet here we are...

but the point is that terrorism includes things like

1. bomb threats and promises to do damage if people do not comply with an order that only is of interest to a specific group

2. exemplary violence against individuals caught actively opposing the ruling party (also known as a show trial)

3. indiscriminate methods of destruction of property of "enemies" that may or do harm innocents (mainly meaning children under 12 years of age, women, or the elderly)

the entire category of prohibition is category 2, including gun laws, drug laws, miscegenation laws, and copyright is also in this category, and some aspects of these start from category 1, and what israel just did was category 3, and the USA did category 3 in Bosnia with cluster bombs, and i've lived in Sarajevo and walked past the impact damage on the pavement and lived in a building that had fragmentation damage and saw dozens of buildings all over bosnia proving that the americans used cluster bombs, which are inherently indiscriminate

honestly, if you are not fighting against this shit you are protecting them, i have no sympathy for anyone who comforts the actions of these people, they are cowards and love their comforts more than they want to live in a world without violence, and that is just fucked up

btw please stop using primal relay, it's a spamfest
