Gday

I dont see a way to 'fix' Linux and its direction

The only solution I see is to totally fork

Linux Kernal

Direction

Software

We need to pull out

- dot net

- python

- rust

- CoC

- centralisation

- interdepency

OBS seems to be going worse, bloated by design

We can record with FFMPEG via CLI

or simple screen recorder

Heck id be happy with a appimage for OBS classic before the modern rework

More and more I see that the new shiney

is just Corporate Bloated Modern Subverison

Ive been considering ditching Devuan (Based off Debian 12 with Kernal 6.x)

and just going back to the older Devuan based off Debian 11

and just upgrade Mesa to the latest build

Ive been looking into OpenBSD

but its getting subverted

supporting Subvertd, wayland, etc

I just ditched the Jewogle Pixel 3a

this week for a dumb phone

I replaced my AC wall alarm clock for a wind up clock

and I have a manual wind up watch

Ill be looking into opensource firmware for my retevis DMR radio this year

As we get closer to 2030

its going to get worse, more subverted, more censored , more corporate bullshit

Look into a old OS base for a dedicated streaming box

What's wrong with Debian 12 compared to 11? Been away from Linux (Android aside) since Artix last killed my computer with a botched GRUB update back in July of last year, and only recently returned after using Atlas (debloated Shitblows for gamers) on another computer.

BSD is still mostly gatekept, with Free being the exception since it's the most recognizable derivative. Just like there are plenty of soyd-free Linux distros, there are some that will support Xorg until the end of time; Wayland is just there to have a modern display driver for modern computing needs, since X11 has been around since the late 1980s.

It's harder for Linux users who want an operating system operating close to the "Unix" philosophy to find them, and harder still to find ones that both don't suck and are somewhat easy (but not too simple) to install. Surprised to hear you gave up thr phone though, were you not running Graphene or CalyxOS on it?
