The bad press was totally unwarranted, imo. I found the game brilliant. The world building is phenomenal, and now with several updates and a modding community, it’s becoming increasingly like a futuristic GTA.

I myself am a big fan of the GTA series, so hearing that Cyberpunk is following in its footsteps is exciting news. Perhaps I'll have to give it a try sometime soon.
