Something happened on the day he died;

Spirit rose a metre and stepped aside;

Somebody else took his place, and bravely cried:

I'm a blackstar, I'm a blackstar!

The Steam Deck is such a great device. I play so much more. Completed Dishonored (2012) last night—what a great game.

You have my vote and I’m happy to help! Let’s get something organised in London! 💪🎤👨‍🎤

These devices pull us out of reality as opposed to blending in. Endless distraction from the present moment, sponsored by Geico.

We need to look up, not down. Physical connections are better than Digital ones. The sooner we reconnect with each other in a meaningful context, the better.

Whatever device is to follow the smartphone cannot come soon enough.

Did you ever play Splitgate with Bitcoin?

Given how cultural trends cycle (mine loved everything 80s, Gen Z loves everything 90s), I’d guess we’re going to see the resurgence of indie rock and emo in about 5-7 years.

💯% This! And apps need to build for users not for themselves. Too many don’t or won’t listen to what is really needed. Though it’s not Nostr, @tidal and nostr:npub1cashappn03s3cl2ljsdntv0v28e2um5lgx4vjctqjt23pcwzjhsqmtdg5l are even listening👂 I heard an interesting term at nostr:npub1r9zwdj8a3z5ue9yrzr094msgsm6fc0zmd8ukhkmegqwag8ths5aq7jq8lx for the first time this month : abandonware. I feel like vibe coding is creating more abandonware not less.

People want cool apps that entertain them or make their lives better. That never changed.

Genuinely asking: what’s the best iOS nostr client now?

so I launched Antidote and didn’t tell nostr… yikes

London has a Bitcoin hub.

Jehnny Beth goes from strength to strength. Fucking sick. https://youtu.be/lV6QBbsKz-g

None of the iOS nostr apps are good for multiple account management… right?

They’ve been the go-to reference for a lot of the post punk revival that started in London in 2019/20. The original Black Country, New Road material drove the most comparisons, but I think it was a little overdone (critics thought comparisons made them sound clever imo). To me, Slint sit very squarely in Gen X apathy and I love it.

It’s beautifully sunny outside so I’m listening to Slint. https://open.spotify.com/track/6zWbR4y3nTpXQ2YvXwvf56

There’s something deeply depressing about a song whose chorus is belting out “I want to be forever young” over a generic pounding dance beat.

I feel ready to re-engage with social media. I have words I can articulate; le jeu, blasé, se met comfortable et se laisse passer.

But where to even start? Nowhere is cool anymore.

Primal auto-zapped “coffee on me,” but I’d honestly love this and would be so in your debt I’d owe you a starfish with that coffee.

How does it feel

To treat me like you do?

When you’ve laid your hands upon me

And told me who you are.

It’s 2025 and it’s still very difficult to find people on Nostr.

I’ve been spending time on Bluesky. I really quite like it.

Mainly because what I’m interested in—all the musicians and creative people I admire—is readily-available, discoverability is decent, and the community engagement is present.

Threads, I’ve yet to try, but I must say it has zero appeal to me, and I’m very familiar with Mastodon/ActivityPub communities. I also can’t stand Instagram (why I like Olas).

As others are saying, talking about Bitcoin and Nostr all day is boring. To critique myself, even when I’m thinking about music here, it’s always with a v4v touch. “Setting up” over here is also really quite complicated.

On Bluesky I instantly found my favourite bands, and they’re posting cool stuff I want to see. I’m wanting to check it more. My X usage continues to evaporate.

Bluesky attracted normies and now it has a small network effect, because they don’t talk about Bluesky all day. No one there cares about what we care about over here, and that’s why it’s successful in attracting media & entertainment. It’s good to see things improving here, slowly.

It’s definitely possible Bluesky dies, but the social media world has changed for good imo. We’re in the unbundling era. Communities will become smaller.

Nostr needs to become cool. It’s too awesome, and it’s what I hope social media and the internet will be more “like”. Having all your friends and content come with you, wherever you go, is very cool.

Look at me, part of the challenge, writing about Nostr on Nostr.

Olas definitely the most exciting Nostr client in terms of potential I’ve seen in some time. h/t nostr:npub1l2vyh47mk2p0qlsku7hg0vn29faehy9hy34ygaclpn66ukqp3afqutajft 👏
