The "Bitcoin only" concept will fail because it'll never be viable. It's a cool toy, but let's be real here, this was never intended to buy a pack of smokes with. And honestly, if you don't see why, you should really figure out how much you pay to use fiat currency. How much is collected on "fiat network" when you lend a friend a twenty dollar bill? Who posts that transaction publicly? And what if you notified the IRS of every time greenbacks changed hands in front of you? Do you think you'd get audited? You better bet your ass you would.

My privacy is valuable to me, and I don't owe anyone a dime when I loan someone cash. I also don't have to solve cryptographic hashes to prove what's in my wallet or that I'm not double spending.

Should Bitcoin replace credit networks? Absolutely. Will it ever be a digital version of fiat? No, never, not in any capacity. It's too dissimilar in every way.

There’s lots of metals, but central banks only hoard gold.

Learn about what collateral is. You’re silly if you think “buying a pack of smokes” is really relevant at all. Try sending gold to your trading partner if your navy can’t secure the passage. Now do the same with bitcoin. Which is easier?

A major use of a currency isn't relevant?

You’re intentionally disregarding the lightning network because it invalidates your narrative, but even if the lightning network didn’t exist bitcoin would still be the best collateral that’s ever existed for international trade.

Absolutely correct, but there will be second layer payments with privacy, speed and low-cost.

Wasn't that lightning?

Maybe we need a third layer 🙂

Ln has some problems 😕

No it's not. It is just not for all goods because some markets need to be created to make an ownership of bitcoins representing some purchasing power without reference to dollar.

My man criticized bitcoin on Nostr. Bold move cotton. Meanwhile, me:
