Google could do that yes and probably will now that the Pixel is no longer AOSP's reference device.

If the Pixel 10 allows OEM unlocking I'll be surprised if it's not the last.

Best to get a Pixel now as an update to a stock Pixel could block OEM unlocking.

I've been seeing news that android is slowly getting more closed source and wondered about its overall impact. Now it's starting to make sense
