Giving up the car means moving into densely packed areas that sacrifice other sovereignty like food production on your own land.

I'm sure many here have lawn love but my land is a productive food source.

Yeah I want to differentiate living in an actually rural setting and being somewhat or completely independent in an "off-grid" sense, from The Suburbs.

Suburbs don't work without massive subsidies for infrastructure, and regulations to allow for car accessibility of services.

I think the future for most of humanity is dense urban environments, which are more sustainable than the suburbs because it's more efficient to provide infrastructure and transportation.

Totally respect people who go this route, but it's simply not feasible for 8 billion people to have their own plot of land and be off-grid independent.

Its very feasible. It only appears unfeasible because we think we're limited to "arable" land. We aren't. We're not even limited to land.
