No Apps... At this point you're way better of buying a "dumb phone"

A nice Nokia 3310, so you also automatically carry a self defence tool (even allowed in airplanes) 😉

Best chance is Musk building and X phone

🤡

Fuck off

Sorry am not looking to buy a phone made by Musk 🤡*

Best choice for me is GrapheneeOS, with the tradeoff that you still give money to Google for the Hardware

But if it's the best option as Hardware then that's OK for me

Of course just using Graphene and install any app on it is pointless, it requires some personal effort/willingness to renounce to some convenience

Librem is interesting, but haven't read enough about it

This with a used pixel 8 or newer, 7 years support from graphene. The used phone is cheaper and you don't have to interact with google directly.

pixel 7 running PLENTY fine here. Am sure a 6 would do decent also..

I'm sure they both would, but if you are in the market and plan to keep it a LONG time, the 7 year support models start at the 8 series.

Google is a pretty useful business with pretty useful tools, so giving them money shouldn't be considered bad. Giving them data, however, is on you.

Pay as you go flip burners are still a thing.

"Wow, who could John Doe Jr. possibly be calling on Father's day? Whoever it is, they are using a pay as you go burner phone, so there's just no way to tell..."

Burner phones are not a good option for everyday life. Accidentally take it out of airplane mode while at your home and workplace? Now your identity is compromised again. Call your friends or family? Now your identity is compromised. Check your personal blog just a few too many times? Sorry!
