Im learning some pretty crazy things about Canada that i never knew.

At the end of WW2 there was something called the Rat Line.

This was an escape route from Europe at the end of WW2. Thousands of SS veterans and Nazi collaborators from Baltic States and the Ukraine were given quick entry to Canada, in a time when many Jews were imprisoned in 8 internment camps across Canada.

The Jews were held for “suspicion of being Communists”.

The Canadian historian Irving Abella wrote extensively on the topic.

Ever get the feeling actual history is not what you’ve been told?

Yikes! Never knew that

As an offspring of a former communist , I was taught that Marx inspired a lot of Ivy and academic strongholds. Let that cook 🧑‍🍳

The victors write the history books.

We westerners aren't going to look so good when Russia and China write ours.

We are not good anyway

All the time...

😔

Somehow though, it gives me hope. that the truth is always trying to be known. its not passive.

Well, actual history is not what you've been told.

Also, the past is not as you remember it.

So where is the point to actually ruin your time and not spend it to live?

I don't think I understand this at all, maybe something lost in translation.

Maybe part of "the point" is to accept our understanding of the past is our best guess, and still be able to use that along with our present values and emotions to still decide on and act in ways that we believe consistent with improving our situation.

No way, fuck nazi all the way… never respect a nazi sorry. Stop with your Azov reading Kant bs
