A reporter emailed at 5 pm on Friday requesting a comment for their article. They gave 3 hours to respond before publishing.

I honestly don't know why you'd even bother reaching out unless you wanted to be able to disingenuously print "he didn't respond when asked for comment."

Wow that is such bad faith πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

Lol

shady and duplicitous

I've heard of them doing this so many times. It seems like they just want to write the article without doing any work to talk to people

laziness is a plague in a society of narcissists

you should have said β€œhmm … interesting. I’ll have to think more about that.”

Poor practice. But just curious what is a reasonable minimum amount of time?

At least 24 hours in my opinion. Certainly not 3 hours on a Friday.

And that's just for a chance to respond/setup a different time to discuss it. Of course, this my answers are from my own perspective and what I would consider ethical in that position. Not everyone shares my ethics in that field. Most are scumbags now, in my opinion.

hmm so is that what they wrote?

They do all the time in smear articles

If your life depends on me responding to an email within three hours, I hope you're right with Jesus Christ. 🀣
