Replying to Avatar Archaic Smithing

Here is some custom Leather coasters with images throughout the process of creating them!

Each coaster was hand cut, hand carved, hand painted, hand stitched and hand dyed.

The coasters also have suede backing stitched to the back.

The coasters were finished with a leather balm, pro resist and mink oil.

A total of four coasters were made.

Hey Dan - so there are a few steps involved there and probably more than you were looking for lol.

The design itself is carved in using a tool called a swivel knife. Then to get it “popped” from the background you use a beveler and hammer.

From there I used an angelus leather paint. After I apply desired coats or colors I wait for it to dry.

Next to have the color stay more vibrant/stand out a bit before staining I added a resist clear coat (usually I apply 2 coats).
