Ask yourself how exactly one would 100% verify that the gold is both there and real solid gold? “Looking at it” or trusting even a honest intermediary is not sufficient. This is in stark contrast to how an even a non-tech simpleton like me can quickly verify that a bitcoin UTXO sent to me is 100% real and spendable.
And so you would check every single gold bar (or whatever form of gold is there) to be sure?

Or just trust them. Point is that with Bitcoin, you don’t have to trust anyone, you verify easily yourself
