How much technical expertise is required to run my own relay? I’ve no experience with running my own server. I looked into Plex a few years ago but decided it wasn’t worth figuring out.
I’d like to run my own relay this year and experiment with it but I remember last year nostr:npub1s5yq6wadwrxde4lhfs56gn64hwzuhnfa6r9mj476r5s4hkunzgzqrs6q7z saying on a podcast that he was giving up trying to run his own relay. That makes me think it’s pretty difficult.

Running a relay at the click of a button that you can experiment with is one of the things you can do with Start9 OS.
For OP, I'd add a couple of possible caveats with Start9 would be that the currently the relay would only be accessible via Tor or on your home network. This could make it difficult if you want others to connect to your relay.
