Any recommendations for the software? I'd like to remain as self sovereign as possible. Use case for running a node is to have a full node. And learn. I doubt I'll use it for much right away other than learning

Again, it depends.. on your skills and preferences.

Easiest way would be to just install startOS from start9, or umbrel.

I run both, kinda like startOS more, although it does everything (and i mean EVERYTHING) thru Tor, which is quite slow even on .local

devs say clearnet-options will come soon™, so we wait.

In the meantime i installed umbrel, to try it out and get clearnet-connections.

But if you wanna learn you can build and install everything yourself on a basic ubuntu or something, done that a couple of times too.

It's no rocket-science, if you can read tutorials and follow instructions you're good to go.

I’ve found nostr:npub126ntw5mnermmj0znhjhgdk8lh2af72sm8qfzq48umdlnhaj9kuns3le9ll super easy to use and setup. Also they have great docs on their website to help you setup and connect services.

Agreed.

My start9-node has been running btc, eletcrs, lnd and more smoothly for about a year now and the only thing i can actually complain about is: Tor-only and not even tunnelsats will do as a workaround.

But they promised to give us options, so we wait.

I’ve only been using it as a lightning node for a few months but it’s been solid.

I’m running a pruned node on a mini pc (256 GB) since I already have a Ronin Dojo full node.
