In 2015, George Pickering saved his son's life when doctors mistakenly declared him brain dead and wanted to disconnect the life support machine. He barricaded himself in the hospital room with a gun and had a 3-hour standoff with the SWAT team until his son squeezed his hand. His son made a full recovery.
