Increasingly I am being confronted with AI generated garbage flooding the internet.

Even my work inbox has been infected with poorly generated AI images taking up half the email.

The internet is increasingly feeling like a lonely place. As if I am the only human faced with a wall of generatively created "content". The comment section no longer a small window into another humans mind but instead a transformer regurgitating words hoping to capitalise on engagement or sway opinion.

Maybe this will push people offline but the more realistic outcome is we all end up as lonely humans in a crowded theater of bots.

The Dead Internet Theory.

I think this plays partly with why I enjoy Nostr so much. It's a throwback to what the Internet was, before the big social media companies are everything.

Smaller places like nostr are better.

But the dead internet is leaking. Starting to feel more like "The Dead World Theory" as the AI generation leaks into the real world. Primarily seeing it now through advertising but it will spread everywhere.

Many people will love this.

"Bot-famous" will reduce human motivation to accuse others of jealousy, and to cultivate psychotic delusions.

New vistas of narcissism and self-absorption will be pioneered!

Literally.

"Be an influencer on this app, where a million bots are designed to hype you up

Become famous, loved, and loathed on a virtual social media plaform.

A new app known as “Botnet” simulates a social network where only one actual human exists: You."

It's like some sort of strange make believe game for social media addicts. If you thought tik tok made people crazier, wait till they get a load of this. It takes echo chambers to different level.

You are so right.

And the ability to tweak the algo to change what the bot followers respond positively or negatively to.

The ultimate peer pressure where the peers are all centrally controlled.

What a beautiful world we are stepping in to.

🤦

"If a million bots aren’t enough for you, the app also lets users pay 99 cents to double the number of likes and comments they receive on posts."
