#nostr My wife and I donated this website to a local group in #Spain working to re-home shelter dogs. Another couple (Roger & Michelle) that volunteer there helped with photos, adding listings etc.

They re-home dogs throughout Europe and the UK. They aren’t a charity just honest, caring people giving their time and money to help.

What an introduction that could be to #bitcoin for these people. Without the walkers / helpers the dogs wouldn’t get out.
The actual shelters contract with the local government is food and house them. The volunteers walk them, raise funds for extra foods, vets, transportation and so on!
Without the guys at Lips Rescue a walk and cuddle wouldn’t happen for the dogs.
I wonder how this works practically, if they can spend the sats for the stuff they need or if they'll need to convert. Could be quite a task for a total new person. As well as having a decent nonruggable wallet.
I suppose this is the dilemma and maybe why it hasn't happened already, they sort of need to be bitcoin people, that is unless you can offer help in that way. I mean people will be more than happy to assist with this on here too. Just a matter of if this will work. It obviously can tho, in theory.

I’m currently in the region. The shelter is rural. I’m about 15 mins from it.
Thinking more on your comment I agree. Also think there is no faster way than seeing something in action.
If I could set some of the local shops they buy food to accept lightning (I believe I could) then it’s opening up a pathway that wasn’t here.
The vets are small independent companies, they could easily get on board.
Would be amazing if there was assistance from the community on here and in turn it created a local bitcoin / lightning network as a result

I wondered and posted a long time ago about this very thing and wondering why it hasn't happened as it would be the perfect fit. It's possible there are bitcoin people running an animal shelter and they're just not aware of Nostr. Who knows.
