The funniest thing about conservatives is they will tell you their whole MO is “don’t tread on me” and then proceed to tread on you the exact same way a liberal does

Conservative: “I just didn’t want you to get the vaccine because I know what’s best for you”

Liberal: “you need to get the vaccine because I know what’s best for you”

Both proceed from the same sentiment. Both know what’s best. But neither will admit to this. Because they’re objectively correct! Nuance is dead!

Lol, you’re right.

Labels like ‘Liberal’ and ‘Conservative’ are pretty much misnomers by now.

To me, a simple heuristic is:

- All people should make their own decisions (generally associated with ‘The Right’)

- Few people should make decisions for all (generally associated with ‘The Left’)

I’d say that’s pretty spot on. I’d you even dare to recognize the nuance of either side, you become an enemy of that side. It’s complete group think/identity politics. Has happened dozens of times in the last few centuries but god forbid you call it out.

Yeah, tribalism is baked into our genes and nuance takes effort.

So polarisation is the way for most. Especially now media turned it into their core business.
