This is a common approach. They don’t even have to start the conspiracies now - humans on social media are quite capable of making them up themselves.
Confusion, disorientation, and not being able to make sense of the world is stressful and disheartening. It weakens opposition and keeps people silent, due to apathy and a sense of impotence. When looked at from the outside, it’s a brilliant strategy for control and domination. One in which single shot does not need to be fired.
