That's the difference between you (and your god) and me, I don't gloss over what *eternal* torment really implies. There is no crime committed by anyone anywhere that deserves eternal hellfire. The fact that you think someone could deserve that, even for the imaginary crime of not believing, tells me everything I need to know about you.

I used to believe that too, not that long ago in fact. But God is holy and demands perfection.
The ones glossing over the meaning of eternal torment and what that implies are those who don't believe it.
You can compare yourself to me and feel like you are good. But none of us are good. I would bet I deserved hell more than you ever could. But right now you are the one going there. The grace of God saved me.
The disappointing part is that I'll never know I was right and you'll never know you were wrong.
I have to give the abrahamic religions a bit of credit though, it's a highly lucrative business model. Manufacture the disease and then sell people the cure, all the while collecting a tithe every week while at the same time hooking the next generation of victims.
