Sonny, sit down lend an ear. Let me tell you…
we started #zapathon as a way to battle test Wos, it took 13 attempts to kill it, next was alby, then primal. My personal record is ~260 zaps in a half hour. You could block another individual simply by zapping quicker than they could, overwhelm their notifications. It was manic and about yer friends.
Then came the memes and the low quality posts. People or bots just fishing for zaps it was clear that we were being had. There have been impromptu events celebrating milestones like 1mill 2mill ect total zaps. We even tried to start a theme to get more participation, not even #pussython could revive the electric nature of those early days.
We laughed at the “Guinness record for most transactions” set at this years podconf.

It was my desktop background on windows '98 or whatever we were using before xp, I was young barely remember it but damn that picture brought back everything that i do remember from them.
