Exclusion never begins with violence — it starts with something small. For me, it was a bench in Tel Aviv marked “reserved for vaccinated only.” I stopped in my tracks. It felt like I was suddenly standing inside my grandfather’s story — the park in Belgium, the bench marked “Not for Jews.” Different era. Same logic. The quiet return of “acceptable” discrimination. That was the moment I realized I had to speak. If we don’t challenge the early signs, we invite the later ones — and by then, it’s already too late.
