To be fair, $AAPL has to kill off lightning payments, it is an existential threat to their App Store. If they don’t every app will start to accept payment directly from users on lightning and they lose out on profit of 1B a year

Agree with this. Apple has and always will be a for profit company and needs to focus on making profits, it’s a vital aspect of the free market.

With that being said, it would be awesome for them to try and understand some of uproar their decision has made and look to integrate and/or adapt to work with this new technology vs. banning it outright. Just wishful thinking on my part that it could be a win/win for free speech and decentralization as well as profits in the long run, yet banning this technology in its infancy stifles any potential for this

Yep. In the long run, They will actually make more adopting #bitcoin and cutting out MC and VISA.

If they embraced lightning up front though they could continue their monopoly and take fees on the front end of Apple Wallet as a LN wallet
