For some people it's hard to ask, I can't judge. 🤷 It's the reason why I tend to help people without being asked, because sometimes it breaks a piece of your soul to appear weak in front of others.

I can and do judge when I see people on here running servers and giving away software for free, and then posting publicly about how much they’re spending on it. It’s good to be charitable. But it’s also good to be forthright with others when something is becoming too much to support without support/donations/revenue, whatever the appropriate funding may be. I don’t care how much anyone spends on something nobody asked them to do. But if I like what you’re producing, then I’ll donate or even pay toward my use of it. People on here need to be up front about that instead of trying to make others feel sympathy for them for something they chose to do on their own.
I perfectly understand your point of view, that wasn't on debate.
It’s all good. This is just a topic that I have strong opinions about. Nostr needs more business endeavors. Good business is good for nostr. There can many approaches to monetizing (V4V, subscription, fee for service, donations, etc) but there needs to be a plan. Starting a hobby and then complaining how much it’s costing you to sustain it is bullshit. I’m a musician. Wanna know how much musicians spend on instruments, software, subscriptions, production, and so on? No. Most people don’t care, because it’s my choice that musicians chose to pay for all that. However, if someone likes your music, then they’re willing to support you financially and they understand there’s a cost in you creating something they love. Just be real about it and find ways to monetize. But nobody would care if I post “this studio time cost me $10K. I did it out of the kindness of my heart and don’t expect anything, but also I’m telling you because holy shit I spent a lot of money and I hope someone feels bad for me.” 😂
Hey what's your biggest discovery about norstr??🤔
Particularly if they’re a BTC OG.
If you’re sitting on hundreds or thousands of BTC you owe it to the community to do the work and STFU about it.
They’re pumping your own bags either way.
I add a donate page to everything I make. I haven’t made a subscription service yet because I haven’t seen anything get a lot of traction yet. If something I make gets used enough then I would transition to paid or a freemium model of some sort.
