In the left’s defense, with no knowledge of bitcoin, if all I saw was

- Billionaires stacking bitcoin and talking about hoarding it and selling your kidney for it (Saylor)

- Trump family with memecoins and stacking crypto and bitcoin, then govt buying it

- BlackRock and Wall Street drooling over Bitcoin

I’d be against that too nostr:note1zlcmlqwr59y6ptpqew9dc2yk7xlrmulgtv3f39v7qh59hzjhn05qz2ddqs

I still believe financial inclusion and green energy are fantastic angles.

100%!

In the U.S. we focus so much on Trump and Wall Street in terms of bitcoin. Huge turn off for the left.

Not enough focus on global use, human rights, using Bitcoin rather than petrodollar, Bitcoin mining and micro-grids/electrification, etc

When I realized I'm on the left because these are the things that interest me more than SBR 🤔

Beyond reply guy GIFs 😂 to me these are the most interesting aspects of Bitcoin. Everyone, no matter your political alignment, should recognize the good that this can truly have for billions of people around the world. That's much more interesting and exciting than thousands getting rich from Wall Street.

Yes! And I’ll be clear, that doesn’t mean someone is on the left or that ONLY the left cares about that.

Just saying the left is more receptive to those arguments than other ones (if at all lol).

I think most on nostr would agree with these use cases for bitcoin :)

🤣🫶

Left ,right, or center. If they let their politics prevent them from participating in the best value exchange network ever created, that’s a personal problem. Later, when they finally join, no one will have any sympathy for why they were late.

Certainly setbacks for the average left/progressive person in terms of perception. Keep fighting the good fight tho, more will catch on.

I don’t think enough people fully recognize the damage that was done to bitcoin’s image in 2021-2022. That was the moment when a lot of good will could have been achieved. We were recovering from the psychological scars of Covid, lockdowns, and job losses, and instead of building good will, we had massive celebrity-endorsed scams exposed from BlockFi and Luna all the way down to FTX. Bitcoin “died” then and the next time most people heard it mentioned again was last summer, when Trump was running.

Oooof, yeah 🤦🏼‍♂️

I agree.

I think part of the problem is people are trying to sell Bitcoin on the benefits vs. features. This is a generally the right way to approach sales, but the problem is the feature set is so wide and has elements that appeal to either the left or the right depending on which one you pick.

I think it's one of the things where we should just take a step back and keep it dead simple:

Bitcoin is better than gold.

Bitcoin has a finite supply. Gold does not. You can be given fake gold, but you cannot be given fake Bitcoin. Bitcoin is liquid (I can sell it on my phone and within 5 seconds & get cash), gold is not.

I think once people start talking about how evil governments are, wars, you just start losing people and sounding like a conspiracy theorist, even if those things are true.

Just stick to the relatable stuff that appeals to 95% of people.

For the left, BTC will ultimately be treated like petroleum — a necessary evil.
