What? There’s still plenty of train lines…
Not sure where you live but it’s not like that for me where I live…
We can walk, bike, drive, horseback or take public transportation pretty much everywhere…
Just don’t live in the big shities…

Both inter- and intra-city passenger rail have taken a HUGE hits in the past ~100 years or so. You look at rail maps from the ~20's and they were like spiderwebs, connecting all kinds of small communities in the Midwest to major hubs like Chicago and Detroit.
Those have been gutted. I've used Amtrak, and it's good in some limited areas, but it's forced to compromise based on poor funding and freight rail priority, etc.
Most suburban areas of America, and many major cities, have incredibly poor public transit and passenger rail systems. Cities of comparable size in Europe or Asia would consider public transit to be a must, but there are plenty of 500k+ population cities that barely have a "shell" of public transit.
Yep. Go look up your towns history. Trolleys weren't just a san Fran thing but they are now.
I come from a long line of railroaders in the united state & Canada… I don’t think I need yall to tell me about the rail way system…
The point here is the car isn’t the evil… it’s the oil that runs the car…
Batteries aren’t the solution as they are an entirely different problem…
Don’t like lots of cars move somewhere where there’s less cars…
Oh sure your family worked in the railroad industry. I'm autistic. So who is the real train expert?
I'm just saying the thing with a laugh at the end of it, please don't turn this into a fight.
