Emulation implies success not failure. People are creating twitter alternatives because they see the model as being lucrative.

Doesn't add up in case of Twitter. Twitter saw a huge downfall after Elon Musk took over. It's been criticised for being biased and also has allegations of curbing free speech.
Twitter alternatives like Mastodon or for that matter even Nostr saw a spike in user base due to the aforementioned reasons.
Is this really success as you suggest?
